Perfect Basmati… Every Time!

I know you food bloggers must all know how to cook basmati rice beautifully. Indeed, I bet you’re all professionals at it and it should be the case that you’re sharing your rice cooking tips and techniques with me! Over the years I’ve found that everyone has their own unique ways of performing this sacred ritual. Let me take this opportunity to tell you how it’s done in the KO kitchen…

    I too follow the same method Sanjana. 3 cups of water for 1 cup of rice; cook it like pasta and drain it and it comes perfect every time.

    I usually soak the washed rice for 15minutes else I do the same method too..

    This is so interesting! Boiling long grain rice in tons of hot water is also the way to make perfect Creole (New Orleans style) rice! You boil it with a couple of bay leaves. The difference is, you drain it and then put in in an oven-safe container dotted with butter, salt, and pepper, and you finish it off at 350 degrees for 5-10 minutes. It's never sticky that way, and it's just right for gumbo. (I like sticky rice, mind you, but in other contexts.)

    love the look of ur rice so much,I need ur idea on vegetable biryani,the easiest and lightest on calories,btw I don't use ghee,I use veg oil.

    Does the lemon slice, cardamom, clove etc apply to 1 cup of rice? And do we double it as we double the amount of rice!?
